From the beginning. A few months ago, I attempted to send a purchased episode of a cable show from amazon to my Tivo. First, amazon sends an email stating that the episode is available, I then log on to amazon. Alternately, I click on the link of the episode in the email which sends me straight to the page where I am able to choose which device to send the episode to (PC or Tivo DVR). I choose Tivo and it tells me that the episode will be downloaded to it. A few minutes later, the blue light on the front of my Tivo lights up and stays on for about 22 minutes while it downloads a 44 minute episode.
I digress. A few months ago, all the steps were done or followed except that the video never made it to my Tivo. I contacted Amazon.com in "chat" mode. They solved that by telling me to simply reboot my Tivo. Voila! That worked. A few days later and another episode download attempted, same thing. This time, rebooting once did not do it, so I rebooted again (probably not a good idea), but it worked. Great!
A third time, a couple of weeks later, same thing, no downloading. When rebooting didn't work, I contacted amazon again and they responded with something different. The had me check my internet speed (23Mbps), and then had me de-register my tivo from amazon.com, then re-register it. THAT worked. A couple of times more, same thing, except amazon also had to force the download from their end, which worked those two times.
This week is quite different. Reboots and de-registrations did not work. Enter amazon.com help. This time, they had me have my Tivo do a connect (Messages & Settings > Settings > Phone & Network > "Connect to the TiVo service now:). We tried that 3 times and each time, my Tivo successfully connected (over the internet). The rep then tried to force the download, but this time it didn't work. I now have 3 episodes (and a free movie provided by amazon) that won't download to my Tivo.
By the way. I dumped Cable TV almost a year ago and have enjoyed HD Antenna with the occasional downloads from Amazon.com, along with my Roku and Netflix streaming to fill in some of the missing blanks. Netflix and Roku works great and I can view any of my amazon.com library from the Roku in low def. Episodes downloaded from amazon in low def look fine and are much better quality than watching on Roku.
What worries me is that amazon.com may come back to tell me that there isn't a problem with them, but with my Tivo. I wouldn't know what to do about that. At this time, amazon says that they are looking into it. Add on: Amazon just announced that they signed a contract with (?) that will allow them to be the sole conveyors of certain shows for the next several years (for instant downloads). Some of those shows are about to become available once aired this summer.
Sorry for the huge post. I'm hoping there is a good solution out there.
