I have a tivo HD (tdc652160) that has a bad hard drive. The bad drive will still boot. Last night I used a linux boot disk with ddrescue to copy the data to a new drive. Both the old drive and new drives were Segates. Both drives are 1TB.
I put the new drive in this morning. It booted just fine. I even went to one of the programs that had shutter due to the bad drive and tivo played through it just fine.
Tonight I went to use the TIVO and found it was stuck in the powering up screen. Any thoughts on what happened? My thought that the new drive hit an partial OS file that was all zeros as part of the copy.
I would like to keep my shows.
My first thought would be to do the ddrescue again and immediately go into the kickstart to reinstall of the OS
